Four years ago today, I wrote my very first blog post on Freshly Married, called “The Iron,”  about a lesson I learned with an iron (obviously), that taught me what it truly means to be a good wife, even though I had only been married for a few short weeks. Though we’ve been married for longer now and have had several more tough experiences than this one, this iron experience helped launch the message behind Freshly Married, which you can read more about here.

I’ve been happily blessed with this passion of trying to help others strengthen and FRESHEN UP their marriage, and in the process, they have helped MY marriage grow! I’ve been able to connect and relate to others through 300 blog posts, a Facebook group community, and the people who message me weekly asking for relationship advice or thanking me for sharing something they needed to hear. That is incredibly rewarding to me, and I hope to have more years of this!

  • I love my husband’s ability to make me laugh even when I don’t want to. He’s the one that calms me down and helps me not obsess over dumb things ;)

  • The post that has helped me the most is the post about intimacy! It’s been a part of our marriage that we’ve struggled with before. It’s a great reminder of how important it is. We’ve read a couple books and it’s amazing how it’s changed things!
I couldn’t just pick one blog post haha I’ve loved the posts about love langue. It’s been so eye opening learning our love Langue and has helped me so much in such a rough spot in our marriage! I will forever be grateful for your posts! They inspire me and I look forward to them every day!!

  • I love a lot of Freshly Married posts but I actually am so thankful you wrote one about wills! After having someone close to me pass away recently it has been on my mind lately. Thank you Amy for doing all that research and being willing to talk about a hard topic!

    • My thoughts and prayers are still with you, it’s unfortunate that something like this is on your mind because of the death of a loved one. I truly do hope this has been helpful for you, but don’t do anything if it’s too soon to think about for you! Oh man, I just am grateful to know him and to know your family.

  • I actually really enjoyed your post about writing a will at a young age. It’s helped me talk about the (hard yet necessary) subject with my husband. Thank you! It wasn’t something I really thought about until I read your post.

    • Oh I’m so glad it has helped! I hope it didn’t scare you too much where now you’re going to be thinking about it constantly! As you know from what I shared in the wives group, the idea of my spouse or I dying has been too overwhelming. I don’t want anyone to feel that, just to know the facts and how to be prepared. Thank you for sharing!

  • My wife Rebekah is always kind. over the past few years as I watch her, she exudes a selfless person. She tries hard to show her love in all things and to all people.

  • One of the greatest quality that I love about my husband is how hard of a worker Is! He works so hard at his job. He will do anything for anyone! His dad passed away a year ago from als. He’s done so much to help his mom get her house all fixed up to help ease her mind. He will jump at any opportunity to help people with anything!

  • I love my husband’s strength and positivity. Sometimes I joke that he’s a robot because no matter what life throws our way he does not cry or shut down, he is my rock! I am usually a ball of stress of emotion so I’m thankful for that balance in our marriage!

  • I love that my husband is so happy and positive ALL THE TIME. He’s the energizer bunny I swear, and it’s awesome.

  • The most beneficial post for us was about preparing a will, our recent tragedy in the family was a reminder that life is so precious and you never really know how long you have. It was eye-opening and reading the blog post made it more “normal” and practical for us to discuss and plan for.

    • oh Kristy, I’m so sorry for your loss! I’m glad you found this beneficial for putting together your own, because it can be intimidating. I’m sorry you’ve had to experience first hand how important it can be, though. hugs.

  • I love that my husband makes me laugh everyday! I love that he is honest and loyal and is so great with our kids!

  • One of my husband’s best qualities is his ability to be positive and strong for his family. Just a few weeks ago we heard tragic news that his brother and best friend both passed in a car accident (only 26 & 28), I can only imagine the loss he is feeling but the strength and compassion he has for others is incredible. He inspires me every day to be better and I’m so blessed to have him as my partner in life.

  • The most beneficial blog posts to us have been the ones pertaining to intimacy. Intimacy is such a fun, beautiful aspect of marriage, but can easily become the most frustrating when communication isn’t being utilized. You provided us some great insight on how to better focus on each other, and how to make intimacy the reward of connection. Much appreciated <3

  • My husband is incredibly hardworking. This hasn’t just applied to his education/career, but to his approach to our relationship. He works hard to communicate with me, to serve me, and to make our marriage loving and vibrant! He ain’t bad on the eyes either ;)

  • My favorite blog post has been the one about the two-player games! We love playing games together, and it was super helpful to get a list of games that are actually fun! Thank you!

  • One thing I love about my spouse is his dedication to take care of us! It may sound a little old-fashioned, but it’s sweet and important to me.

  • My favorite blog post(s) have been the ones on love languages! I started reading the book and it has been super helpful and eye opening.

  • I love how my husband is so friendly and personable! I am naturally very quiet and shy so I know anywhere we go together I won’t feel awkward because he can strike up a conversation with anyone! I also love how good he is at making people laugh…including myself!

  • I love my wife for so much more than I could say but, I will make it short and say that she has always and will forever fill my gaps. Remember from Rocky? Classic movie to watch or watch again.

  • I love that my husband works very hard to provide for our family!
