HAPPY FOUR YEARS!

Four years ago today, I wrote my very first blog post on Freshly Married, called “The Iron,”  about a lesson I learned with an iron (obviously), that taught me what it truly means to be a good wife, even though I had only been married for a few short weeks. Though we’ve been married for longer now and have had several more tough experiences than this one, this iron experience helped launch the message behind Freshly Married, which you can read more about here.

I’ve been happily blessed with this passion of trying to help others strengthen and FRESHEN UP their marriage, and in the process, they have helped MY marriage grow! I’ve been able to connect and relate to others through 300 blog posts, a Facebook group community, and the people who message me weekly asking for relationship advice or thanking me for sharing something they needed to hear. That is incredibly rewarding to me, and I hope to have more years of this!

I’m grateful for a husband who helps make my website function, who gives me great tips for improving FM, and who so graciously provides for us, allowing me to pursue this journey dedicated to helping others. I’m grateful to be surrounded by spouses who recognize how important their marriage is, and who are yearning for ways to strengthen their marriage each day. You guys are my inspiration, and the reason why I continue to do what I do.

  • There are so many amazing posts on this blog, but one of my more recent favorites would have to be “Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder”. I loved this post because my husband and I are getting ready to do a 7 week long distance and I have been dreading it. He graduates and is starting a job in California while I finish my school and then I will move with him 7 weeks later. It will be so hard but reading that blog post gave me some ideas for when we are apart, and also some reassurance that we will love each other and appreciate each other even more when we see each other again.

  • This seems so silly, but I love that my husband takes out the garbage! He knows that taking out the garbage is a chore that’s i absolutely hate doing so he does it without me ever asking! ❤️

  • My husband is such a hard worker! He loves his job and provides for us, but he also comes home and helps work on things around the house. He also works hard on his calling and I love and appreciate all he does!

  • I love this blog/Instagram. It is full of light and inspiration in a day where there is so much negativity and pain, especially associated with marriage. My favorite trait about my husband Michael is that he is so compassionate, he asks me all the time, “how can I make you feel better?” “what can I do better?” His humility and compassion is so inspiring.

  • The “Five Tips To Financial Peace in Marriage” post has helped us as I didn’t want us to be like those couples that fight over money, but we were starting to. Talking about it and following your tips has also helped us!

  • Congratulations on your 4 year Anniversary! My husband and I will be celebrating our 3 years this August! I have to say that I love his humor. He has always been a jokester. He always knows how to cheer me up!

  • I’m still making my way through your posts, but I loved the one about turning your house into a home. I love decorating, but it’s tough to make your college apartment feel like home. I’m a big believer that home is where you go to unwind from your day and it should be the one place you always want to go. Family starts at home and that’s where the most love can grow sometimes! It deserves attention. It’s been so fun creating our “home” together and I loved the tips you provided in that post :) thank you!

  • Thank you for this fun giveaway! I’ve recently come across your blog/Instagram and I LOVE it. In fact, I told my husband that this is the type of thing I want to do when I grow up with my Family Studies degree ;)

Anyway. My favorite thing about my husband is that he finds humor and happiness in almost everything. Because of that, he’s taught me to not take life quite so seriously! I love him.

  • What I love most about my husband is that he is so hardworking. He works so hard so that I can stay home with the girls and even when he is tired from working he does work around the house. He is also such a great dad to our girls, I just love him so much 😍

  • I loved the post about questions you can ask your spouse on date nights! Jake and I are still making our way through those hundred questions and it’s so fun! We’ve sent the article to parents and grandparents because we’ve loved asking each other the questions so much! I love all your posts!!

  • I love how sweet Jake is. Even though during the day we’re doing separate things, work, school, etc., I know he’s thinking about me. He’s always happy to see me. 💛

  • I really liked the posted about the wills. We made a temporary will when we went on our trip to Thailand but I know we need to make a new one that’s more legit hahaha

  • I love how hard-working Trenton is and what a great provider he is for our family. I also love that he has different laugh when he finds something really funny and he can’t not laugh.

  • I love that my husband still comes home everyday. You know our family and our challenges so you know that’s a big feat! I told him I’d totally understand if one day he just kept driving, but nope, still comes home!😃

    • haha this is so funny! A lot of times it’s the little things that mean a lot but big things like not leaving are meaningful too! haha. thanks for sharing julie!

  • Oh my goodness what could I NOT say about my spouse? One of my favorite things about him, though, is how often he tells me he loves me. Words of affirmation is my love language so him telling me how much he loves me means so much to me!

  • A blog post that really helped me was about resolving conflict. My husband and I actually like to resolve conflict the opposite way. I like to solve it right then and there, he needs time to cool off. We have since talked about it and he lets me know when he needs space and then later we can sit down and talk about the issue when we are both calm.

    • Thanks for sharing that, Caroline! I’m so glad it was helpful for you. So many couples are like that, where they have opposite ways of wanting to resolve conflict so I’m glad you were able to come up with an option that worked for both of you. It’s crazy how lots of things just come down to communication.

  • I love that my husband loves life! He gets so excited about everything and makes me a happier person with his energy and positive attitude.
